78 Injil Quotations of ‘YAHWEH’ Verses from the Taurat

There are about 283 Taurat (Old Testament) verses quoted in the Injil (New Testament). Of those 283 verses, about 78 contain the Divine Name “YAHWEH” in the original Hebrew text. Following the practice of the LXX Septuagint Greek Translation of the Hebrew Old Testament (Taurat), the Greek New Testament (Injil) writers used the Greek words kurios (LORD in English) and sometimes theos (GOD in English) to represent the Divine Name “YAHWEH” when quoting verses from the Old Testament. This demonstrates that the Injil text is well aware of the Name of God revealed during the time of Prophet Musa (Moses) and written over 6,000 times in the pages of the Holy Taurat. By contrast, the text of the Quran shows no such awareness of the Divine Name, as it seldom quotes from the previous books.

However God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal,

“The LORD knows those who are his,”

And,

Quoting from the Taurat, Numbers 16:4-5 which says: When Musa heard it, he fell on his face: and he spoke to Qarun and to all his company, saying, “In the morning YAHWEH will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to him: even him whom he shall choose will he cause to come near to him.”

55. 2 Timothy 2:19b

“Let everyone who names the Name of the LORD depart from unrighteousness.”

This resonates with the Taurat, Numbers 16 where those who would follow Prophet Musa’s leadership were told to get away from the tents of Qarun, Dathan and Abiram. Numbers 16:23-27, 31-34 says: YAHWEH spoke to Musa, saying, “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from around the tent of Qarun, Dathan, and Abiram.’” Musa rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him. He spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins.” So they moved away from the tent of Qarun, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little ones.
It happened, as he [Musa] finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them; and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men who sided with Qarun, and all their goods. So they, and all sided with them, went down alive into the grave: and the earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly. All Israel that were around them fled at their cries; for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up.”

“Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah; 9not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in my covenant, and I turned away from them,” says the LORD. 10“This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the LORD; “I will put my Taurat in their minds, I will also write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11They will no more teach every man his neighbour, or every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12For I will forgive their wickedness, and will remember their sins no more.”

Quoting the Taurat, Armiya 31:31-34 which says: “Behold, the days are coming, says YAHWEH, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; which covenant they broke, although I was a husband to them, says YAHWEH. This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says YAHWEH: I will put my Taurat in their minds, I will also write it on their hearts.
